from 10 reviewsOur German Shorthaired Pointer — a very active, happy and now healthy GSP — did better on Feed for Thought’s pretty much unadulterated soldier fly larvae based dry dog food than any other offering we could source at the time. As shared in previous reviews, we consider the owner an excellent business operator. She is not a fly-by-nighter (excuse the pun) and committed both to planetary care, dog care, and remaining in business in the long term. Try it. Only met one dog who wasn’t impressed by it. Met plenty of humans convinced their pooch would not be the slightest bit interested but then astounded by their dog’s enthusiasm. The dog food industry is predominantly all about biggest profit for least expenditure, with life expectancy therefore shorter and disease (and financial) burden higher. Of course, some of the larger pet food industry interests are now dipping their toes into this boutique soldier fly larvae feed source. I’m most pleased to stick with Alison’s product (and it is cheaper, too!).
We have purchased the high fat/protein topper many times, using it as an adjunct to product sourced from other ethical dog food manufacturers. Our GSP loves it. The two cats in our household think it is ABSOLUTELY fabulous, too. Given we are still hand feeding our nearly four year old pooch (ensures he eats slowly, to avoid the dreaded bloat), we also like the un-pulverised form, the whole dry solder fly larvae body “treats”. That said, the topper is most pleasant to touch. Packaging goes into our compost bin, although I haven’t emptied the compost bin out since starting to compost the new compostable re-sealable bags it now comes in from Feed for Thought. Stay tuned for our back garden bag-composting research results…or comment on your own experiences. The way our goods are packaged is as critical as the contents, IMHO. Finally, our experience of dealing with Feed for Thought over a number of years now has been an excellent one. We need more forward thinking business creatures like Alison (and — of course — her dog, Max). Photo attached is our four legged, web footed, nearly four year old Feed for Thought Topper “dog dust” consumer after retrieving a ball recently from the surf:-) Buy this product for your fur-ball and become all buff like him!!!
its is so healthy for my two dogs, they love it, i have lost count on how man y people say that they look so healthy
Excellent product. Great to have feedforthought back in production, with the service, delivery and product as fantastic as ever!
I have 6 dogs – a wolfhound, kelpie, two border collies and two pugs. They all love this food and lick their bowls clean. I can feed it to them knowing it’s good for them and the planet. And no cruel factory farming of cows, chickens, sheep or pigs involved. A win all around.
Our little old Maltese cross loves your food. It was disappointing for him and us when your supplies dwindled but hopefully now we can become regulars. Good stuff and thank you for your efforts in developing this product.
Very glad to see you back in production. I have two JRT x Tenterfield who just love this food.
My two dogs and I love this food! They love the taste and always quickly devour it, and I love giving them a more sustainable and ethical choice than meat-based kibble, while is still providing them with the nutrition they need.
I have been feeding my dog this kibble after his first year mainly and it agrees with him. He is now four year old. Switching over to another protein as a main meal immediately revives his skin inflammation visibly, so I am very happy you are back in stock @feedforthought.com !
Miki loved his gifts. Thanks 13/10
