Frequently asked questions
Will my dog like the taste?
Most likely! We've had amazing palatability results. The good news is that if they don't, I'll refund you! I just ask that you donate the food to a neighbour or shelter so it doesn't go to waste
Can you see the insects?
Not in the dry food. You can't tell by looking at it that the protein is novel at all. But if you're interested in the Air Dried Whole Insect Protein Rewards, then YES! They are, as the title suggests, air dried insects. You get a compelte protein, tiny organs and all.
Is it safe for my dog?
Yes. The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) has added the Black Soldier Fly Larvae to its official list of approved feed ingredients for use in pet food. Our food is made in a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point certified facility and our insects are bred by farmers who have met the requirements of Feed Safe. The food is vet formulated and complete and balanced.
Not a question, but ICK!
Some humans feel this way. Your dog, on the other hand, doesn't care. It's just tasty meat to them. Start with the dry food, you can't tell.
My vet said to try a novel protein, does this count?
Yes — black soldier fly larvae is about as novel as it gets. Most dogs have never encountered insect protein before, which makes it one of the best proteins for allergic dogs.
