Feed For Thought was founded on a simple idea: that healthy dogs and a healthy planet go hand in hand. Our dogs are part of our families, and they deserve food that nourishes them without costing the Earth.
By using black soldier fly larvae as our main protein source, we’re tackling two major challenges at once; reducing food waste and lowering the environmental impact of pet food. Insect protein has around a quarter of the emissions of traditional meat-based pet foods and is rich in nutrients that dogs thrive on.
Each bag of Feed For Thought represents a small, tangible way dog owners can make a difference every day.

Among them is a small business called Future Swirl, founded by an inspiring young lady called Maddalena. The ACT is home to a growing network of purpose-driven founders, each proving that small businesses can make a big impact when guided by care, creativity, and conviction.

In 2023, Feed For Thought was honoured as runner-up in the same Telstra category, an incredible milestone that helped spark national conversations about sustainability and pet nutrition.
Since then, we’ve grown, building business resilience, expanding our network of Australian farmers, and sharing our message with dog owners across the country. To be recognised again in 2025 confirms that the movement toward sustainable pet food is gaining traction. It’s proof that small, determined teams can influence an entire industry.
