Well August was a lot!
The month started with me waiting somewhat impatiently for a rather large amount of dog food to arrive.
And then it arrived, which was brilliant.
It also meant I spent the next week surrounded by boxes wondering why I'd been so excited about it.
There is something slightly ridiculous about seeing months of planning suddenly turn into this much dog food, but it was also very satisfying.
We've been out and about in my local area on the NSW Mid North Coast. Feed For Thought ships nationally but no one in the small seaside village we live in when we aren't in the van knows that they've got their very own dog food company in their postcode.
So August involved markets, meeting lots of local dogs (and their humans), getting our food into more hands and explaining, repeatedly, that yes, it really is made with insects.
Then there was International Dog Day.
I ran a sale.
I made ads.
I sent emails.
I watched Shopify.
I refreshed Shopify.
I told myself to stop refreshing Shopify.
I refreshed Shopify again.
Very normal small-business-owner behaviour.
Somewhere amongst all of that, something really good happened.
August brought another heap of new dogs to Feed For Thought.
I call most new customers, not everyone answers, but I like to say thank you and find out how we can help their dog.
I especially love hearing if they found Feed For Thought because someone told them, but I don't mind hearing that our ads worked either.
So that's one of the things I've liked most about this month.
We're growing, but it still feels small enough that I notice.
